Private Instruction
The Advanced Exam-writing Course for law students and the Supplemental Bar Preparation Course include private instruction with faculty. Students and bar candidates may also purchase blocks of faculty time for private instruction, if they have taken either The Basic Exam Course for law students or The Basic Bar Preparation Course.
During one-on-one sessions, students meet via teleconference with faculty to critique their outlines or essays. The feedback given by faculty during the one-on-one sessions is particularly helpful because students learn how to identify their academic issues and how to apply themselves more effectively. If a student needs assistance in figuring out how to effectively respond to multiple-choice or MBE questions, the student and faculty member will “walk though” the process of answering practice questions together.
A student or bar candidate must watch either The Basic Course for law students or The Basic Bar Preparation Course in order to purchase blocks of faculty time for individual instruction. After watching one of the Basic Courses, the student and faculty member share a common framework and lexicon through which to evaluate the student’s work.
When a student purchases a block of faculty time, appointments are scheduled for the entire semester or for the summer. Students must submit their work for each session via email at least twenty-four hours before the meeting.
Twenty-four hours’ notice is required to cancel an appointment. If proper notice is not given, the student’s account is charged.
Students find the one-on-one sessions enlightening and really helpful. The quality of the feedback given by faculty is unparalleled.
