Transfer Counseling

Having performed well the first year of law school, Skillman students began asking for assistance in applying to transfer to other law schools. As a result, we began to offer transfer counseling to law students.

We counsel students through the entire application process. Students who are applying to transfer work with faculty to write and edit their personal statements. Students also work with faculty to identify those persons who will be asked to write recommendations. Further, we give guidance to those persons selected to write recommendations for our students.

The process begins with the faculty member conducting an intensive interview of the student to gain an in-depth understanding of the student and his/her goals and background. Then, the faculty member and student work together to put together an impressive application package.

Transfer counseling always takes at least ten hours of faculty time. Students and faculty meet via teleconference and work intensely with the goal of submitting the application early July.

If you are a first-year student who is interested in transferring to another law school, we suggest that you take The Basic Exam Course and the Advanced Exam-writing Course.

"Using The Skillman MethodTM, I was able to transfer to the school of my choice. I qualified for Law Review. I was elected to the senior board of the Law Review."
