LLM Foreign Students

Congratulations upon successfully completing your J. D. You and your family should be very proud. Navigating the law school curriculum is difficult.

You have at least one more exam to pass before you can practice law in the United States – the state bar exam. We want to assure you that the key to passing the bar exam is effective preparation. With proper preparation, bar candidates can pass a bar examination, no matter how difficult the exam.

Why Choose The Skillman MethodTM?

Taking The Skillman MethodTM will give you an advantage. The Basic Bar Preparation Course, filmed at Vanderbilt University School of Law, completely demystifies the bar exam and gives you strategies for increasing your success on the exam.

If you are a foreign lawyer, the first thing that you have observed is that the American legal education system operates quite differently that the system under which you were educated. In the American system, students are expected to extrapolate the law from the cases and then expected to apply the law on essays and multiple-choice exams. Oftentimes, LLM students from other countries become overwhelmed because the methodology employed in American law schools is so different.

The Basic Exam Course

If the state in which you are sitting for the bar exam requires you to attend an American law school for a year, our suggestion is that you enroll in The Basic Exam Course for law students your first semester in school.

The Basic Exam Course includes three classes, "How to Excel in Law School," "How to Outline Law School Courses," and "Exam Writing, Legal Analysis & The Exam Writing TemplatesTM." It takes approximately eight hours to watch the course.

The Basic Bar Preparation Course

If you in your last semester of law school, we advise you to enroll in The Basic Bar Preparation Course, rather than The Basic Course for law students. The description of the bar preparation course is on the web page for bar candidates.

The Supplemental Bar Preparation Course

A description of this course appears on the web page for bar candidates. Many times, foreign lawyers enroll in this course in addition to taking a tradition bar review course in order to get the additional support in preparing for a bar exam. Since this course includes individual instruction, students receive feedback from faculty which helps them to address their unique issues.

Private Tutoring

Private tutoring is available to students who have taken either of The Basic Courses. Bar students must purchase a ten- hour block of faculty time for private tutoring. Private tutoring is offered via teleconference.

We Want You to Succeed!

We want you to succeed. So please take advantage of our Free Online Video Course, "Linear Thinking – How to Get As." The course was filmed at Vanderbilt University School of Law.
